KP Kofler is an initiator, an idea generator, and a master of recognising and seizing on the spirit of the age. He is a firm believer in making people’s lives better with good food, the right presentation and atmosphere,” that is the explanation given by Schlemmer Atlas | Busche Publishing, which honoured KP Kofler, CEO and founder of the international premium catering firm Kofler & Kompanie as “Gastronomer of the Year 2018” Monday evening.

In order to succeed as a gastronomer it is imperative to analyse trends, go with the zeitgeist and keep on developing innovative concepts. That makes me all the happier to receive this citation; I see it as confirmation of my own aspiration never to choose the path of least resistance, but rather the one that yields the best results for the customer“, KP Kofler said gratefully.

KP Kofler repeatedly proves his knack for gastronomical trends, not least by his pop-up concept PRET A DINER. Last year he served sharing-style Peruvian food for the Berlinale, this year he swelled his ranks with four up-and-coming gastro start-ups from London. Kricket with modern-interpretation Indian cuisine, A. Mano gave off an Italian flair, Kym’s spoiled us with innovative Chinese dishes and Island Poké brought the Hawaiian form of Shushi, Poké Bowl food, to Frankfurt.

All of the start-ups are part of the White Rabbit Fund, a development fund in the UK, under whose auspices Kofler & Kompanie fosters promising young gastronomers and aids their expansion. That is how the trendsetter once again managed to create a successful gastronomical concept, which scored big points, even alongside a multinational array of food, which also had an impressive interior and a diverse entertainment and art program.

We are in the Mona Lisa business, whatever I work on, I aim to create magical moments. The motto I live by: average is the enemy of perfection“, said KP Kofler.
