Pret A Diner – After the pop-up comes…





Berlin – 29.2.2016. “Goodbye Berlin, Hello Berlin!” Our farewell to the German capital also marks a beginning: As we come to the end of our temporary pop-up dining experience PRET A DINER, we’re at the same time looking forward to the upcoming expansion of our gastro-concept PACHAMAMA in Berlin” – KP Kofler, founder of PRET A DINER and CEO of Kofler & Kompanie speaks about the final days of the 19-day pop-up event. Under the alias THE AUDIENCE, PRET A DINER has been held in the Orenstein & Koppel Lofts on Möckernstraße 120 in Berlin Kreuzberg for just under three weeks.

Around 3,000 dinner guests were invited to the event concept by premium caterers Kofler & Kompanie between 9th and 27th February, and a further 2,500 visited as party guests. For the first time, the pop-up dining experience has taken place with the support of main sponsor Audi.

“THE AUDIENCE has developed as a new culinary concept through previous guises of PRET A DINER: From bringing star chefs to the masses, to the elevation of street food. With THE AUDIENCE we have focused on Peruvian inspired cuisine and for this we have received the support of London gastro-hotspot PACHAMAMA. Our guests’ enthusiasm has affirmed our decision: Berlin is ready for PACHAMAMA. The seach for a location is already underway”, KP Kofler reveals the ongoing plans.

PACHAMAMA’s food concept is based on a sharing-style dining experience. The portions are small to medium sized, so that guests can try different dishes and share them with each other. “It brings a social aspect to the dining, but also means that the guest samples a wide variety of flavours and ingredients” explains KP Kofler.

At PRET A DINER – THE AUDIENCE, guests enjoy brown crab and yuca churros, miso infused carrots with red quinoa and Peruvian kimchi, fried aubergine with smoked yoghurt and pecan nuts, salmon Tiradito with pickled beetroot and avocado as well as Polluelo a la Brassa with lemon thyme salad.

From internal Show-Case to pop-up phenomenon: In 2004 Kofler & Kompanie presented the PRET A DINER-collection for the first time and brought lifestyle into catering business. Beside Food-Trends Kofler & Kompanie presented fine dining, art and ambience in Zeitgeist spirit. Every collection since then has been developed in tight collaboration with talented, creativ and highly-decorated chefs from all over the world.

In February 2011 the concept got enhanced to a pop-up restaurant, that so far has taken place in different european cities. Since 2011 the dining concept took stage in Berlin, Frankfurt, London, Zürich and also on Art Basel. Furthermore PRET A DINER performed a „one-night-only“ in a villa in Ibiza.
